I recently stayed at this hostel for a few days and it was absolutely wonderful. The location is perfect, with sandy beaches, spectacular flora, and beautiful panoramic seascapes right on your doorstep. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen/diner was equipped with everything I needed to prepare delicious meals. The lounge area was luxurious and a great place to socialize with other guests. Marianne, the staff member, was incredibly helpful and kind. I can't wait to go back!
Would recommend this hostel.

Comfortable beds and cozy atmosphere made our Christmas stay enjoyable. The hostel's location near Smoo Caves provided an exciting and interesting attraction to explore. The self-catering facilities were convenient and allowed us to prepare our own meals.
Limited parking options could be a hassle, especially if you arrive late and need to find a space or move your car early in the morning. The breakfast offered was basic, which may not suit everyone's preferences during the festive season.

We had a fantastic time staying at this charming hostel near the sea. the view of the rocks was absolutely amazing, and we loved spending time in the lovely garden. the hostel had a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, and the shared rooms were spacious and quiet. the kitchen inside the hostel was well-equipped and perfect for preparing our meals. the beds were comfortable, and we had a great night's sleep. the location was excellent, with a small supermarket just 10 minutes away and plenty of parking available. the friendly staff, particularly Matt and Em, were always there to help and provide recommendations on places to eat and store our bikes. it was a wonderful stay and we highly recommend this hostel to other travelers. Cons: Almost perfect! 😊.

The location of the hostel was absolutely stunning, right on the coast near Smoo Cave. . the staff were efficient and welcoming, making me feel comfortable during my stay. the hostel had a nice cozy feel and the communal kitchen was enjoyable for meeting new people.
The parking space was a bit challenging, especially for those who are not used to driving on the left side or handling right-hand vehicles. . It would have been helpful to have a cash machine on-site, as the only option for payment was by card.

Despite our low expectations, we were pleasantly surprised by the Durness Youth Hostel. The location was stunning, with beautiful ocean views and just a short walk to the beach. The communal facilities, especially the kitchen, were well-equipped and convenient. We also appreciated the space to hang our wet clothes and store our tent overnight. our stay was pleasant and we found the hostel provided almost everything we required.
I would recommend this hostel for a one night stay during your NC500 tour. However, it may not be suitable for families.
